2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG P900 Prototype
RM Sotheby's · Lot 310 · Saturday, August 15, 2026

Description
This 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG P900 is one of only four prototypes built to develop AMG's naturally aspirated 6.2-liter M156 V-8 — the first engine designed entirely in-house by AMG — and one of just two believed to survive. The car carries numerous program-specific components including Lexan windows, carbon fiber doors, DTM-style mirrors, front canards, and a twin-fin rear wing, and displays fewer than 225 km at cataloguing. It is offered at no reserve but enters U.S. ownership under a NHTSA "show or display" exemption and EPA Racing Vehicle Exclusion, restricting road use to 2,500 miles annually and prohibiting public-road registration.
